The BAFTA TV Awards are UK’s biggest night in television and this year’s ceremony was worth the wait! The list of winners is in and it includes Apple TV+ black comedy Bad Sisters, hit teen sitcom Derry Girls, and Kate Winslet’s drama I Am… Ruth with two awards each.
Bad Sisters dominated the drama categories, where it managed to beat the likes of The Responder, Sherwood, and Somewhere Boy to win a trophy for the best drama series. It was also a big night for its star Anne-Marie Duff, who won the award for best supporting actress.
Derry Girls ended its run on Channel 4 after three seasons last spring, and BAFTA TV Awards celebrated its legacy exactly a year later. In addition to being named the best scripted comedy, this series also won the trophy for best female comedy performance thanks to the hilarious fan-favorite turn of its star Siobhán McSweeney.
Kate Winslet was one of the night’s shiniest stars, after winning the trophy for best actress with I Am… Ruth, which was also named the best single drama. She was joined by Ben Whishaw, who won the trophy for the best actor for his role in This Is Going to Hurt.
