The stage has been set for the next musical star(s) to have their own biopic.

Following a year in which Rami Malek won an Academy Award for playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody and Taron Egerton showed off as a tiny dancer in the Elton John flick, Rocketman, the Bee Gees are now due to have their own spotlight on the silver screen.

The Brothers Gibb (made up of Barry, Robin, and Maurice) formed in 1958 and were regarded as prominent performers of the disco era which dominated in the mid-to-late ‘70s.

The “Saturday Night Fever” trio stopped performing in 2003 following the death of Maurice, after which Barry and Robin retired the name “Bee Gees” which stood for “Brothers Gibb”. Robin passed away in 2012, leaving Barry as the only currently surviving member.

Paramount has now purchased the life rights to the Gibb estate on behalf of Bohemian Rhapsody producer, Graham King and his GK Films.

No writer or director has been assigned to the project as yet, but we have no doubt it will be stayin’ alive in the meantime.
