A Sequel is on the Way for “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”

It’s back into the Spider-Verse we go!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a huge hit, both critically and with fans, when it debuted in 2017.

The computer-generated animation was set in a shared multiverse called the Spider-Verse which consisted of several alternative universes. Miles Morales, who is Spider-Man in one of these universes, is forced to team up with his alter egos to save New York City from the villain Kingpin.

Into the Spider-Verse earned over $375 million worldwide and unexpectedly picked up the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 2019 Oscars.

There will now be an opportunity to score a second Oscar as a sequel has been confirmed!

Sony Pictures announced the good news on Twitter along with the scheduled release date of April 8th, 2022.

While Into the Spider-Verse is getting a part two, other characters in alternate dimensions such as Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Man 2099, and Spider-Gwen Stacey are also expected to return in spinoffs.
