Those crazy Asians are about to get richer.

After debuting at number 1 at the box office and earning $35.5 million during its opening weekend, a sequel to Crazy Rich Asians is in the works.

The film is based on Kevin Kwan’s book about New Yorker, Rachel, who accompanied her boyfriend Nick to his friend’s wedding in Singapore and finds herself contending with rich, jealous, (crazy!) socialites.

Kwan’s second book, China Rich Girlfriend, will provide inspiration for the sequel which is set to reunite the entirely Asian cast, as well as director Jon M. Chu.

Warner Bros. also has the option for the third book in the trilogy, Rich People’s Problems.

While the studio has not officially greenlit the project yet, producer Brad Simpson has said, “We have a plan with Kevin for the next two films.”

The crazier the better!
