Stumptown starring How I Met Your Mother’s Cobie Smulders has been canceled by ABC even though it was previously renewed for a second season in May.

According to sources, there were timing and scheduling issues that were a result of the coronavirus pandemic which delayed a fall launch date and resulted in ABC not moving forward with the second season. ABC Signature, which produces the series, intends to shop the show to other networks.

Stumptown was created and executive produced by Jason Richman, with co-showrunner and executive producer Matt Olmstead. The series is based on the graphic novel series of the same name and stars Smulders as Dex Parios, a veteran with complicated love life, gambling debt, and a brother that she takes care of.

Jake Johnson, Tantoo Cardinal, Cole Sibus, Adrian Martinez, with Camryn Manheim and Michael Ealy also star in the series.

Stumptown is the latest series to get its renewal revered due to the pandemic. In August, Netflix announced that they were reversing the renewal of The Society and I Am Not Okay With This.
