ABC Cancels “United We Fall” After a Single Season

Jane Curtin, Will Sasso, and Christina Vidal in "United We Fall"

Several of ABC’s 2019/2020 freshman class shows managed to impress TV viewers, but United We Fall wasn’t one of them. This family sitcom was canceled after a single season, due to poor ratings and underwhelming critical reception.

United We Fall was created by Making History producer Julius Sharpe, and its ensemble cast included Will Sasso, Christina Vidal Mitchell, and Jane Curtin. The sitcom centered on a couple with young kids whose life is turned upside down when their judgmental grandmother moves in.

The last episode of this show aired on ABC on August 26th, and Sharpe thanked the cast and crew for sticking by his side even before the cancelation was official.

“Before the last taping, two of the writers caught me spontaneously weeping. In life, you just don’t even know if you’re going to get one shot. I did, and had such great people there supporting me. I still can’t believe it. I appreciate each and every one of you,” he wrote on Instagram.

Not all of ABC’s new shows suffered the same fate. The family sitcom Mixed-ish was renewed for the second season, and so was the dramas For Life.
