BAFTA voters have shown a lot of love to All Quiet on the Western Front this year and awarded it with a total of seven trophies. In addition to topping the list of winners at this year’s ceremony, the German anti-war drama also walked away with the best film award.

All Quiet was competing against The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Tár, but the tough competition didn’t stop it from coming out victorious. This doesn’t come as a shocker since BAFTA voters made it clear they have a lot of love for this film when they gave it 14 nods—a record-breaking number for a non-English language film.

Edward Berger won the best director award for his work on this film, defeating the Daniels and Martin McDonagh. All Quiet came out victorious in five more categories: best adapted screenplay, best cinematography, best original score, best sound, and best film not in the English language.

The list of major winners also included The Banshees of Inisherin and Elvis, with four awards each. Martin McDonagh’s tragicomedy defeated the likes of Aftersun, Living, and Empire of Light to be named outstanding British film.

The 76th British Academy Film Awards were held on February 19 at the Royal Festival Hall in London, with Richard E. Grant and Alison Hammond hosting for the first time.
