FX’s acclaimed comedy-drama Atlanta is alive and well, although its absence from television for almost four years might indicate otherwise. The Emmy Award-winning series is set to return for its third season in early 2021, with the premiere date being set for March 24.

According to the announcement, the new episodes of the series will also be available on streaming platform Hulu one day after they air on FX. The previous two seasons were streamed only after all episodes aired on the network.

“We are thrilled to have Atlanta back with a new season on March 24,” said FX in a statement. “Once again, Donald Glover, the producers, and stellar cast have delivered another signature season synonymous with the excellence that makes Atlanta so great.”

Atlanta stars Donald Glover as an aspiring music manager Earnest “Earn” Marks who is trying to help his cousin and rapper Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) reach stardom. In between, he navigates private issues that include trying to get on the good side of his ex-girlfriend Van (Zazie Beetz), who is also the mother of his daughter.

Season two of Atlanta officially wrapped up in May 2018. FX planned to have the next season ready for 2019 the production was delayed due to Glover’s hectic schedule and other issues. At one point, the network wanted to film season three and four back to back, but the coronavirus pandemic caused them to scrap those plans.
