Winning a lottery jackpot is usually a dream come true, but it turns into a total nightmare in Amazon Prime Video’s new film Jackpot! The first trailer sees Awkwafina joining forces with John Cena in an attempt to escape hordes of people trying to kill her and claim her lottery ticket as their own.
Jackpot! is set in the near future, where the popular show Grand Lottery offers a multi-billion-dollar fortune—while also letting people kill the winner before sundown to legally claim their jackpot.
Katie Kim (Awkwafina) mistakenly finds herself with the winning ticket in her possession after moving to Los Angeles. She joins forces with an amateur lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy (John Cena) in an attempt to survive the hordes of jackpot hunters trying to kill her including Noel’s slick rival Louis Lewis (Simu Liu).
In addition to Awkwafina, Cena, and Liu, the cast of this action comedy will also include Murray Hill (Somebody Somewhere), Seann William Scott (American Pie), Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness), and Ayden Mayeri (I Love That For You). It was directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids), while Rob Yescombe wrote the script.
Jackpot! will debut on Amazon Prime Video on August 15.
