Fans of Harley Quinn are going to have to be patient…

In November 2016, Warner Bros. announced that it would develop a film based on a team of female DC characters who are known collectively as the “Birds of Prey”.

Amongst them is Harley Quinn, Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya.

Margot Robbie is set to reprise her role from Suicide Squad by playing Harley Quinn, as well as produce, while Cathy Yan will helm the film.

“She [Harley Quinn] has got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang,” Margot told Collider. “I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space. So that was always a big part of it.”

Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play Huntress who is the daughter of Batman and Catwoman, while Jurnee Smollett-Bell has been cast as Black Canary — is a street fighter known for her shrieking cry.

Warner Bros. has confirmed the Birds of Prey release date, with the supervillain film set to hit theatres on the 7th of February 2020.
