We can’t seem to get enough of Kenya Barris’ comedy Black-ish.
ABC announced that they’re working on a fourth installment in the Black-ish franchise titled Old-ish which will center around Dre Johnson’s (Anthony Anderson) parents Earl “Pops” Johnson (Laurence Fishburne) and Ruby Johnson (Jenifer Lewis).
Barris, the creator of Black-ish, is set to write and produce the project which will focus on Ruby and Earl’s relationship after they move to a gentrified area in Los Angeles and they meet characters who represent the old and new faces of the neighborhood.
Old-ish joins Mixed-ish and Grown-ish, the other spinoffs in the Black-ish franchise. Mixed-ish tells Tracee Ellis Ross’ Rainbow Johnson’s childhood story and Grown-ish, which airs on Freeform, follows Yara Shahidi’s Zoey’s journey during college.
Back in 2018, Barris left his overall deal with ABC after getting a better deal with Netflix. Since leaving, he’s created the Netflix’s single-came comedy series #BlackAF, which recently received a second season order.
