“Bonnie and Clyde” is Being Remade

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in "Bonnie and Clyde"

The most famous bank robbers of the 20th century are about to be introduced to a new generation.

Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow (known simply as Bonnie and Clyde) were lovers who robbed multiple banks and stores during the Great Depression between 1931 and 1935.

During their 4 years of crime, the couple are believed to have killed at least 9 police officers and several other civilians before being slain by the authorities in Louisiana.

Their encounters were documented in the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde, starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, which earned 10 Oscar nominations, winning 2.

The story is now set to be retold by Spanish director Kiké Maillo, starring Kick-Ass actress Chloë Grace Moretz and Jack O’Connell of Unbroken.

“We are excited to reintroduce the iconic story of Bonnie and Clyde,” said the producers. “Their story remains ubiquitous in popular culture across the globe, yet few in this generation know the details of their intimate love affair and the circumstances that led to their notorious crime spree that captured the imagination of the world in their time. Kiké, Chloë and Jack are completely in sync about the character-driven approach we will be taking, and we feel lucky to have a creative team of this high caliber leading us forward.”

Production is scheduled to start in early 2019.
