“Call Me by Your Name” Sequel in Works With Timothée Chalamet & Armie Hammer

Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet in "Call Me by Your Name"

The director of Call Me by Your Name, Luca Guadagnino, told Italian newspaper La Repubblica that Timothée Chalamet, Armie Hammer, and more of the cast would be returning for the sequel.

“Of course, it was a great pleasure to work with Timothée Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Esther Garrel and the other actors. Everyone will be in the new movie,” Guadagnino said.

Besides the cast, not much else is known about the sequel, but the novel which the movie is based on has a sequel titled Find Me, which has the same characters with their stories taking place 10 years later.

Call Me by Your Name follows 17-year-old Elio Perlman (Chalamet) in 1980s Italy and his relationship with Oliver (Armie Hammer), a graduate student working for Elio’s father (Stuhlbarg). During the summer the two grow closer, but like all good things, their relationship comes to an end when Oliver moves back to the United States at the end of the summer.

The film earned four Oscar nominations including best picture and best actor for Chalamet and writer James Ivory won the award for best adapted screenplay.

Work for the film has been put on hold due to coronavirus.
