Just two weeks ahead of the show’s release, the first trailer for Dolly Parton’s new Netflix series Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings has arrived.

The last couple of years have seen a buzz for biopics. We’ve been gifted with Elton John’s Rocketman, Freddie Mercury‘s Bohemian Rhapsody and plenty more. Instead of telling her story on the big screen, country star Dolly Parton has decided to share hers through a Netflix series.

The trailer begins with a voiceover from the country legend herself, explaining exactly how the series will pan out. She says: “They’re just stories, put to music. The songs that I’ve written, they’re stories of my life. Every triumph, every struggle, every smile, every sorrow. It’s the melody of my memories. It’s the sound of my heartstrings.”

The structure of the series revolves around eight of Parton’s songs. The trailer reveals each track on the back of a vinyl before offering snippets of scenes inspired by Parton’s memories.

The likes of Ginnifer Goodwin and Kathleen Turner will star in the series. Julianne Hough is the woman taking on the role of Jolene, who inspired Parton’s iconic track of the same name.
