Christopher Nolan rounded out an A-list cast for his next project, and we finally know what this film will be about. Universal Pictures dropped some hints about their next collaboration with the visionary director and revealed he’s adapting Homer’s ancient Greek epic The Odyssey as his next film.

After weeks of rumors and speculations about Nolan’s next project, Universal cleared the air by sharing an update about this highly-anticipated film on social media.

“Christopher Nolan’s next film The Odyssey is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026,” the studio announced in an official statement.

Based on Homer’s timeless Greek epic, The Odyssey sees the Greek hero Odysseus trying to find his way back home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. It takes him a decade to return to his wife Penelope and son Telemachus, and he faces many unexpected obstacles on his perilous journey.

Like all of Nolan’s previous movies, The Odyssey will be one star-studded affair. Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron previously joined this project in key roles.
