Fans of Community spent years hoping that the cult comedy show will get “six seasons and a movie”, and their prayers have finally been answered. Community: The Movie is officially coming to Peacock and most of the core cast members are set to return for another ride.

Community premiered on NBC in 2009 and centered on a group of unlikely friends attending a fictional community college. The show became a cult hit thanks to pop culture references and meta jokes, and Yahoo! Screen picked it up for Season 6 following NBC’s cancelation.

After years of chatter about the potential movie, Peacock is finally making it happen and bringing Dan Harmon and Andrew Guest on board as the writers. Original cast members Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong are also set to come back.

Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said they’re excited to join forces with Dan Harmon to bring this long-awaited project to life.

“‘Six seasons and a movie’ started out as a cheeky line from Community’s early seasons and quickly ignited a passionate fan movement for this iconic, hilarious and cool NBC comedy. We’re incredibly grateful that 15 years later, we are able to deliver fans this promised movie,” stated Rovner.
