CSI:Vegas is returning for a second season, but William Petersen won’t be coming back.

The sequel to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation comes a week after the Season 1 finale aired on December 8. Season 2 of CSI:Vegas is set to air during the 2022-2023 season.

Petersen reprised his role as Gil Grissom from the original show, but he won’t be returning and he agreed to appear only in the first 10-episodes of the series. He will continue serving as an executive producer. Sara Sidle, who was also in the original show, hasn’t been confirmed yet for Season 2.

CSI: Vegas was set in Sin City and the team is facing an existential threat that could tear apart the Crime Lab and release tons of killers back onto the streets of Las Vegas. The team is led by Maxine Roby (Paula Newsome) and it includes Grissom (Petersen) and Sidle (Fox) who investigate a case centered around former colleague David Hodges (Wallace Langham). Matt Lauria, Mandeep Dhillon, and Mel Rodriguez also starred in the first season.

Jason Tracey, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Anthony Zuiker, Carol Mendelsohn, Ann Donahue, Craig O’Neill, William Petersen, Uta Briesewitz, and Cindy Chvatal serve as executive producers.
