We’re living in a golden age of television where streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu have no trouble enlisting the help of the biggest names in Hollywood. YouTube is following in their footsteps. They recently picked up promising dark comedy series produced by George Clooney, with Kirsten Dunst in the lead.

YouTube Premium has ordered 10 episodes of dark comedy On Becoming a God in Central Florida. That name is quite a mouthful, but we have a hunch everyone will be talking about it next year.  After her amazing appearance on Fargo in 2015, it will be exciting to see what Kirsten Dunst brings to the table this time around and the material seems promising.

The upcoming TV show will take place in Orlando during the early ‘90s. It will focus on a minimum-wage-earning water park employee Krystal Gill. She’s described as “a dirt-poor, very fierce young woman who is relentless in her pursuit of the American dream.” American dream in her case means being wrapped up in a multi-billion dollar pyramid scheme and losing everything in the process.

On Becoming a God in Central Florida was originally in development at AMC, but YouTube Premium eventually took the wheel. It was a passion project of the late TV executive Suzanne Patmore Gibbs, who passed away in March. She supported Dunst’s casting and said the actress “was born to slay this role.”
