Yara Shahidi made a name for herself with the role of Zoey Johnson in Black-ish and Grown-ish, and her rise to fame continues with a role in Disney’s next live-action adaptation of a beloved classic. She’s been cast as Tinker Bell in the upcoming film Peter Pan & Wendy.

Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson will play titular roles in this highly-anticipated project, with Jude Law taking the role of Captain Hook. David Lowery will be in charge of directing the project, making this his second collaboration with Disney after Pete’s Dragon.

J. M. Barrie’s timeless tale has been adapted on several occasions in recent years. Joe Wright’s Pan and Benh Zeitlin’s Wendy both failed to impress the critics and find success at the box office, but Disney’s new adaptation looks much more promising.

This is actually only one of many live-action remakes this studio is developing, following the huge success of The Jungle Book, Maleficent, The Lion King, and more animated classics. Remakes of The Little Mermaid, Pinnochio, and several more films are also on the way.
