There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony and for a good reason! Dolly Parton embraced her rock star status at the induction ceremony, while the list of honorees also included the likes of Eminem and Lionel Richie.

Parton’s inclusion created a lot of commotion when she was nominated earlier this year. The singer said she wants to “respectfully bow out” of the consideration because she doesn’t feel she deserved that right. The Rock Hall rejected her withdrawal, saying that the ballots have already been sent to voters and that rock and roll have deep roots in country music.

Parton kicked off her speech by saying, “I’m a rock star now!” and reflected on her hesitation to accept the honor because she “didn’t really feel like [she] had done enough to deserve that.” The country legend added she’s honored and proud to be there despite her initial attempt to withdraw.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place on November 5 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. In addition to Parton, Eminem, and Richie, the list of this year’s inductees also includes singers-songwriters Carly Simon and Pat Benatar, new wave duo Eurythmics, and synth-pop band Duran Duran.
