We’re not sure if Sherlock saw this one coming…
CBS has announced that the 7th season of Elementary will be its last.
The series showcased a different depiction of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic story of Sherlock Holmes, with Jonny Lee Miller playing the detective and Lucy Liu as a female Dr. Watson.
The modern-day representation was renewed in May, with all 13 episodes of its next season having already been shot.
7 appears to be the show’s lucky number, as it will bow out when both Miller and Liu are believed to be up for contract renewals, allowing it to end naturally.
“A lot of parties came together and talked about their positions on the show — both in terms of business and in terms of creative — and we all decided that this was an opportune time to say goodbye to a show that has been very, very good to us,” said CBS Entertainment President, Kelly Kahl.
Elementary’s final season will air in 2019.
