Emily Blunt has worked with many visionary directors over the years, and she’s getting ready to join forces with one of the all-time greats. The Oscar-nominated actress is eyeing one of the lead roles in Steven Spielberg’s next film at Amblin and Universal Pictures.
Not much is known about this project yet, but it’s been described as an “event film” and “summer tentpole”. It would mark the first collaboration between Blunt and Spielberg, and it’s based on the story he wrote, while his long-time collaborator David Koepp penned the script.
The untitled project has been described as a two-hander, with Blunt in one of the lead roles. It will hit the theatres on May 15, 2026, making it Spielberg’s first major release to get an early summer release date in years.
This may be Blunt’s first project with Spielberg, but she previously collaborated with Amblin on the adaptation of The Girl on the Train, in addition to recently starring in Universal’s action-comedy The Fall Guy alongside Ryan Gosling.
She’s fresh after receiving her long-awaited first Oscar nomination for the supporting role in Oppenheimer. Her recent credits also include Pain Hustlers, The Fall Guy, and IF, and she’ll next be seen in Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine opposite Dwayne Johnson.
