It’s only been a few days since the fourth season of Emily in Paris wrapped up, but Netflix is betting big on its future. Everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure show is officially returning for its fifth season, which will see Emily Cooper embarking on a new adventure in Rome.
Season 4 wrapped up with Emily (Lily Collins) moving into an apartment in Rome after being chosen to lead the Italian office of Agence Grateau. Creator Darren Star promises this doesn’t mean we won’t see Emily return to Paris – she’ll come back to the City of Love while still having a strong presence in Rome.
The new city brings a new love interest along, and Star is looking forward to exploring Emily’s relationship with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) in Season 5.
“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance. We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time,” Star told Tudum.
In addition to Collins and Franceschini, Season 4 also starred Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, Camille Razat, and Thalia Besson, but their return in Season 5 is yet to be confirmed.
