Emmy Rossum hasn’t taken a major TV role since saying goodbye to Shameless, but she’s finally ready for a comeback. The new trailer for her next project sees her transform into Angelyne, the billboard queen who reigned supreme in Los Angeles during the ’80s.

If you’re not familiar with Angelyne’s story, buckle up, because it’s truly a wide ride—inside a vintage pink Corvette, no less! Angelyne became an overnight sensation when she appeared on countless billboards around LA during the ’80s, drawing so much attention that they transformed her into a true pop culture icon.

Angelyne is based on Gary Baum’s The Hollywood Reporter article about the LA icon, and showrunner Allison Miller said it’s not strictly a true story or a straightforward biopic.

“It’s a story inspired by everything Angelyne represents and so it’s a magical story, a hopeful story, a story about becoming the person you were meant to be and believing in your own inner strength to manifest your dreams,” Miller told People.

Angelyne will feature a total of five episodes, set to premiere on Peacock on May 19, and its cast will also include Martin Freeman (Sherlock), Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass), Michael Angarano (This Is Us), and Lukas Gage (Euphoria).
