The wait for season five of FX’s Snowfall is almost over. The network just revealed that the new episodes of the critically acclaimed crime drama are set to arrive in late February.

Season five will premiere on February 24 with back-to-back episodes. The remaining eight episodes will air weekly.

“Snowfall is enjoying a justly deserved burst of success with Season 4, and we’re excited to follow it up with another explosive season early next year,” said FX in a statement.

Season four was the network’s most-watched series in 2021. Snowfall was a surprise hit for FX after premiering in 2017.

Created by John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Dave Andron, the show is set in early 1980s Los Angeles and follows the stories of several characters involved in the city’s crack cocaine epidemic. The majority of the focus, however, is on Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), a 21-year-old man who transitions from a small-time drug dealer to one of the most powerful figures in the crack cocaine game.

The official synopsis for the fifth season reveals that the story will be set in 1986. Saint is at the height of his power and he and his associates have more money than they can spend. However, the carefree times are soon about to end as the government and the police plot ways to stop the rise of the drug industry.
