“Game of Thrones” Final Battle to be the Most Epic Ever

With a month to go until winter’s arrival, producers of Game of Thrones are finally shedding some light on the show’s final season.

We already know that most of the series’ 6 episodes will run more of a film-length at around 90 minutes.

Now, it seems that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are trying to outdo one of film’s most epic battles — that of Helm’s Deep in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

The battle between the forces of Saruman and the Rohirim lasted 40 minutes on screen, with the anticipated Battle of Winterfell set to succeed that.

“This final face-off between the Army of the Dead and the army of the living is completely unprecedented and relentless and a mixture of genres even within the battle,” says co-executive producer Bryan Cogman. “There are sequences built within sequences built within sequences. David and Dan [wrote] an amazing puzzle and [director] Miguel [Sapochnik] came in and took it apart and put it together again. It’s been exhausting but I think it will blow everybody away.”

Taking over 11 weeks to film, we have no doubt!

Game of Throne’s final season premieres April 14th .
