Halle Bailey has been on fire since the start of 2023, and she’s showing no signs of stopping! After leaving Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, Bailey decided to finally go back to making music and released her long-awaited debut solo single “Angel”.

Bailey already has five Grammy nods under her belt as a part of Chloe x Halle, and it was just a matter of time before she started releasing solo music. Her sister Chloe already took that set and dropped her debut solo album In Pieces earlier this year, and Halle is now ready to follow in her footsteps.

The Wendy Morgan-directed video for “Angel” is as heavenly as its title, and it closes with footage of Halle in her youth, performing both on her own and alongside Chloe. The young singer said this song helped her be proud of herself and realize that her work matters.

“This song for me is so very special and near and dear to my heart. With everything I’ve gone through the past 3-4 years, suddenly finding myself in this bubble of all these eyes and new opinions, it was easy for me to feel doubt in myself and who I was,” said Bailey in a statement.
