Die-hard fans of HBO’s epic fantasy drama are currently thanking the old Gods and the new since they’ll be getting even more exciting new adventures from the Seven Kingdoms. There’s been a lot of rumors surrounding possible Game of Thrones spin-offs, but it’s finally official! HBO picked up a pilot for GOT prequel written by none other than George R.R. Martin and his new partner in crime Jane Goldman.

According to the official description, this show takes place thousands of years before the events depicted in the original series. There’s still a lot we don’t know about this epic world George R.R. Martin created and the new series will help us fully grasp its complexity. It will take a look back at some of the most horrifying secrets in the history of Westeros and explore the true origin of the white walkers. No mention of dragons yet, but they’ll probably find a way to throw a couple of winged creatures in there.

Title and release date of the prequel remains a mystery, but it probably won’t be airing on HBO at least a year after the final season of Game of Thrones. It’s only one of five potential GOT spin-offs this networking is working on at the moment. Details are still being kept under wraps, but fans can sleep soundly as long as they know there are hundreds of stories left to be told in this universe.
