Netflix gave The Witcher an early Season 4 renewal, but with one major change. Henry Cavill announced his exit from the acclaimed epic fantasy series and Liam Hemsworth is now set to take over from him and play Geralt of Rivia in Season 4.

Cavill released an official statement announcing his exit, where he reflected on the time he spent playing Geralt of Rivia and wished Hemsworth the best of luck taking over from him.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf,” said Cavill.

Hemsworth is best known as Gale Hawthorne from the Hunger Games movies, and we’ve recently seen him star in Netflix’s Isn’t It Romantic. He said he’s “over the moon” to play Geralt of Rivia and honored that Cavill handed him the reins.

Cavill’s departure from The Witcher comes shortly after it was announced he’ll return as Superman in the DCU. We’ll still see him play Geralt in Season 3 of The Witcher, set to premiere on Netflix sometime next year.
