Theatre had its chance in the sun on Sunday evening.

The annual Tony Awards — celebrating all things stage — took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Singers (and Tony nominees in their own right) Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban took on hosting duties and dedicated a song to the “90 percent of us [who] leave empty-handed tonight.”

One of those was Mean Girls, based on the 2004 film starring Lindsay Lohan.
Screenplay writer, Tina Fey, came on board to pen the script for the Broadway show which earned 12 Tony nominations but left without a single statuette.

The biggest winner of the night was The Band’s Visit which is a Broadway-adaptation of the 2007 Israeli film which follows the story of the Egyptian police orchestra who finds themselves in the wrong Israeli town.

The Band’s Visit claimed Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Performance by both an Actor and Actress in a Musical.

Hacksaw Ridge actor, Andrew Garfield, received Best Performance by an Actor in a Play for his role in Angels in America which took home Best Revival of a Play and Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play.

The award for Best Play went to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts I and II.

You may now all exit, stage left.
