Director J.J. Abrams has finally joined the galaxy of Twitter and we couldn’t have asked for a better first tweet!

The filmmaker began production on Star Wars: Episode IX on the 1st of August, and decided to christen the occasion with his first venture into the Twitterverse.

“Bittersweet starting this next chapter without Carrie,” Abrams wrote. “But thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew, we are ready to go. Grateful for @rianjohnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part.”

This will be the first Star Wars film without its stalwart, Carrie Fisher, who passed away in December 2016 as a result of cardiac arrest.

Abrams announced last week, however, that the late actress would still appear in Episode IX by using previously unused footage from Episode XIII.

At the time of writing, the director has over 39,800 followers to his name!

Talk about having the force with him…
