Amazon MGM Studios is plotting a live-action comedy Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie, and they managed to lock in a pretty impressive cast. Hugh Jackman, Emma Thompson, and Nicholas Galitzine are gearing up to lead this star-studded project.

Based on Leonie Swann’s international bestseller, Three Bags Full will star Jackman as George Hardy, a shepherd who enjoys reading murder mysteries to his loving sheep, unaware they understand every word.

Once he’s found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep are convinced they’re the only ones capable of solving this crime. They decide to leave their meadow for the first time, only to discover that the real world isn’t as simple as it appears in books.

In addition to Jackman in the lead role, Three Bags Full will also star Emma Thompson (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande), Nicholas Braun (Succession), Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea of You), Molly Gordon (Theater Camp), Hong Chau (The Whale), and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Wonka), among others.

Animation veteran Kyle Balda will direct this project, while Craig Mazin (The Last of Us) wrote the screenplay. Lindsay Doran and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are coming on board as producers.

Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie will be released in theatres on February 20, 2026, before getting a streaming release date on Amazon Prime Video.
