Pixar made quite a splash with Inside Out 2, and this won’t be the last we’ve seen of this ever-expanding universe. Pixar’s chief creative officer Pete Docter recently dropped some hints about its future and revealed that Disney+ is plotting an Inside Out spin-off series.
Docter recently set down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss what the future has in store for Pixar and revealed they’re plotting a spin-off series set in the Inside Out universe. It will explore the power of dreams and how they affect us in our waking lives.
“We have finished. It’s coming out next spring. I’m not sure that there’s been a specific release date, but in the first film, remember we go to Dream Production to see how Riley’s dreams are made? It semi-explains why they’re so weird,” said Docter.
Expanding the Inside Out universe seems like a no-brainer after the recently released sequel cemented the success of this franchise. It already grossed $380 million worldwide after scoring the third-biggest opening day debut for an animated film domestically.
Inside Out movies centers on a young girl Riley, who faces many complex emotions while navigating her way through life, and it takes us inside her mind where these personified emotions control her thoughts and actions.
