It’s been quite a while since the second season of The Last of Us kicked off production, but it’s still adding new actors to the cast. Emmy winner Jeffrey Wright, who voiced Isaac in the video game that inspired HBO’s hit series, will reprise his role in its TV adaptation.

Wright’s character first appeared in the second game in this franchise, and he’s been described as “the quietly powerful leader of a large militia group who sought liberty but instead has become mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.”

He’ll be joining Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as a hardened survivor Joel and a 14-year-old girl Ellie, who must depend on each other for survival as he tries to smuggle her out of an oppressive quarantine zone.

Season 2 cast was pretty impressive even before Wright agreed to join the gang, and it includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny, plus Catherine O’Hara in a mystery role.

Wright previously collaborated with HBO on several hit dramas, including Boardwalk Empire and Westworld. He’s fresh off receiving his first Oscar nomination for American Fiction and will next be seen in Spike Lee’s High and Low.
