Jennifer Garner was everywhere in the early 2000s, and she got to lead her own superhero blockbuster with Elektra. Almost two decades later, she’s finally ready to take another swing at this role after being cast as Elektra in the highly-anticipated Deadpool 3.

Garner initially played Elektra in Deadpool alongside Ben Affleck all the way back in 2003. Despite failing to become a huge hit, this superhero flick was followed by a spin-off Elektra, which saw Garner return as this antihero vigilante for the second time – reportedly only because she was contractually obligated to.

Unfortunately, Elektra was a critical and commercial failure and it left Garner wondering “what could’ve been.” The actress admitted it was a shame she was a part of the MCU before its prime because everything got more elevated after Kevin Feige took over Marvel, and she didn’t have that experience playing Elektra.

Garner will finally get her chance to right that wrong in Deadpool 3, and she’ll be in pretty good company on the set of this project. In addition to its leading man Ryan Reynolds, this film also stars Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, and Hugh Jackman, and it’s set to hit the theatres on May 3, 2024.
