Alafair Burke is joining forces with Amazon Prime Video for the adaptation of her novel The Better Sister, and this project is shaping up to be one star-studded affair. Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks will lead the cast of this thriller series and serve as its executive producers.

The Better Sister will tell the tale of two estranged sisters Chloe (Biel) and Nicky (Banks), whose lives went in completely different directions. After years spent apart, they’re forced to reunite after Chloe’s husband Adam is brutally murdered, and his sudden death ends up sending shockwaves through the family and forces them to face long-buried secrets.

Olivia Milch and Regina Corrado created this series for Amazon Prime Video, and serve as its showrunners and executive producers, while the acclaimed filmmaker Craig Gillespie is coming on board as a director.

Amazon MGM Studios’ head of television, Vernon Sanders, said they’re looking forward to seeing Biel and Banks bring these characters to life alongside the show’s talented creative team.

“Beyond being an enticing thriller full of twists and turns, The Better Sister is a gripping story about family feuds and forgiveness… The series is in the best hands to bring Alafair Burke’s original IP to life for our global Prime Video customers,” said Sanders in a statement.
