Lionsgate recently offered an update on their highly-anticipated action flick John Wick 4 and it came with a huge disappointment for all the franchise’s fans. In a short clip shared on YouTube, the studio revealed that the movie’s release was pushed back all the way to 2023.

The fourth installment in the John Wick saga was previously set to hit the theaters in the summer of 2022. Now, however, we will have to wait until March 24, 2023, to check it out.

The decision to push back John Wick 4 comes as a surprise, especially since the movie already wrapped up with filming back in October. It marks a second big delay for the film, considering Lionsgate initially announced it for May 2021. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum was released in 2019 and it was met with critical acclaim while grossing $325 million at the box office.

John Wick 4, reportedly titled Hagakure, will see Chad Stahelski returning as a director and Keanu Reeves reprising his role as the deadly assassin John Wick.

Besides Reeves, the John Wick 4 cast will see the returns of Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King, Ian McShane as Winston, and Lance Reddick as Charon. Newcomers includes Rina Sawayama, Bill Skarsgard, and Clancy Brown.
