Kristen Stewart is receiving some major Oscar buzz for her portrayal of Princess Diana in Spencer, and it seems this movie is really worth the hype. The first full trailer for the royal drama is here, and Stewart did an amazing job unleashing her inner Lady Di.
Spencer takes place during the royal family’s Christmas holiday at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate, and it shows Princess Diana facing the inner turmoil of her life as a royal. As rumors of affairs and a divorce abound and the pressure she’s facing becomes impossible to bear, she’s faced with a difficult decision—stay on course or leave her loveless marriage with Prince Charles behind.
Directed by Pablo Larraín, best known for his work on the Jackie Kennedy biopic Jackie, Spencer had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival. It also impressed the critics at film festivals in Telluride and Toronto, and it’s set to screen at several more before heading to theaters on November 5th.
Kristen Stewart is being hailed as an Oscar front-runner for her performance in this biopic, but she was in pretty good company on the set of Spencer. The supporting cast includes Jack Farthing, Timothy Spall, Sean Harris, and Sally Hawkins.
