Leslie Grace will soon take the reins as Barbara Gordon in the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl movie, and we finally know what her version of the character looks like. The young actress recently took to social media to share the first look at her Batgirl costume.
Grace’s costume is ripped right off the page, and it’s one of the most comics-accurate costumes in the DCU in recent memory. It puts a modern spin on Gordon’s original purple and gold crime-fighting outfit, as she poses against gothic architecture.
Her photo was accompanied by a caption that reads, “I use their expectations against them. That will be their weakness. Not mine. Let them all underestimate me… And when their guard is down, and their pride is rising, let me kick their butts.”
In addition to Grace, who got her big break with the role in In the Heights, Batgirl is also set to star J.K. Simmons as James Gordon, Brendan Fraser as Firefly, and Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Filming started in Glasgow in late November, with Rebecca Front, Corey Johnson, and Ethan Kai later joining the cast.
Batgirl doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it’s expected to premiere on HBO Max in 2022.
