Let’s Talk About That New “Star Wars” Title

Star Wars fans, J. J. Abrams knows your concerns.

Disney recently unveiled the title of the forthcoming film, which is being helmed by the director of the previous film in the franchise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The 9th and final film in this trilogy will be called Episode XI: The Rise of Skywalker.

The title has left fans wondering whether the movie will reveal that Rey is a Skywalker after all, but in typical suspenseful fashion, Abrams is remaining mum. Though he does admit that the title is controversial…

“The title feels like it’s the right title for this movie, and I know that it’s provocative and asks a bunch of questions,” he recently told ET Online. “But I think when you see the movie, you’ll see how it’s intended, what it means.”

The filmmaker also said that the movie possesses the massive responsibility of tying up the past movies and bringing an end to the three trilogies.

Star Wars: Episode XI opens on December 20th .

No pressure.
