Netflix has given us one of its biggest hits with the period drama Bridgerton, and its first spinoff is just around the corner! Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is coming our way this spring and Netflix generated some major buzz for this series by dropping the first teaser trailer.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will chronicle Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power by focusing on her marriage to King George, which sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.
Golda Rosheuvel will return as Queen Charlotte, and she’ll be joined by several actors from the original series, including Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Ruth Gemmell (Violet), and Hugh Sachs (Brimsley).
India Amarteifio and Corey Mylchreest will lead the young cast, as younger versions of Queen Charlotte and King George, with Arsema Thomas, Michelle Fairley, Richard Cunningham, and Sam Clemmett in supporting roles.
In addition to dropping the first teaser trailer, Netflix also shared several new still photos and revealed that Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will premiere on May 4. The limited series will feature a total of six episodes directed by Tom Verica, with Shonda Rhimes coming back on board as a showrunner, executive producer, and writer.
