It’s been three years since Lizzo dropped her Grammy-winning album Cuz I Love You and it was about damn time she surprised us with some new music. She’s back in the spotlight with “About Damn Time”, the lead single from her upcoming fourth studio album Special.
In the opening frames of the music video for this catchy tune, we see Lizzo attending a support group, but she doesn’t stick around for too long. The pressure of speaking in front of others is too much for her, so she decides to escape and dance her heart out instead.
“About Damn Time” is Lizzo’s first single since the release of “Rumors” with Cardi B last summer, and it’s the song about many things she’s been waiting for too long.
“‘About Damn Time’ can lead into so many conversations. It’s about damn time I feel better, it’s about damn time we get out this pandemic… There’s so many things,” Lizzo told Zane Lowe.
“About That Time” will be featured on her upcoming album Special, scheduled to be released on July 15. Lizzo is yet to share the rest of the tracklist, but it’s also expected to feature the song called “Special”, which she performed during a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live.
