Lorde has really kept her fans on their toes since the release of her last album Melodrama, but she’s finally ready for its follow-up. Her third LP Solar Power is just around the corner, and she teased its release by sharing a sun-kissed music video for the single of the same name.
The video for Lorde’s new single is basically what Midsommar would look like if it was set in New Zealand. While discussing her latest single with Triple J, the “Green Light” singer explained she wanted to build a universe on a secret beach. “Solar Power” serves as the introduction to this universe, and it’s one in the series of songs with a similar vibe.
“Every song on the album, I did say it has to sound like the sun, and this one in a big way. It sounds like the beach, the waves, the girls lying on the beach. I really wanted it to have that vibe. The guitars, the drums – everything’s so sunny,” said Lorde.
“Solar Power” was released as the lead single from Lorde’s upcoming third studio album of the same name. She’s yet to share its official release date, but it’s expected to hit the shelves later this year.
