Pop star Lorde recently surprised her fans with a new music video for the song “Leader of a New Regime”. The track is taken from her most recent studio effort Solar Power.
Lorde finds herself again in the director’s chair, splitting the duties with Joel Kefali. The duo also directed the previous three music videos Solar Power tracks, including the title song, “Fallen Fruit”, and “Mood Ring”.
The “Leader of a New Regime” video is set on the seaside and filled with stunning landscapes. It also has several intriguing moments like two horse riders emerging from the water, shots of abandoned mirrors on the beach, and scenes that feature Lorde gazing at the open sea.
“Solstices should always have offerings,” Lorde said about the music video. “So for you, here’s the “Leader of a New Regime” video. Just a couple of bites, a feeling, a perfect midpoint in the Solar Power journey. I hope you like it.”
Lorde released Solar Power back in August to mixed reviews from the critics. The album, however, performed well on the charts and hit No. 5 in the United States and no. 2 in the UK while topping the charts in New Zealand and Australia.
The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter plans to embark on a tour to promote the album next year. The North American leg of the tour is scheduled to kick off in spring.
