Trying to figure out what to do for your next birthday?
Perhaps Mindy Kaling‘s latest tip is the one to follow.
When the star of Late Night turned the big 4-0 on June 24th, she decided to do so by doing something for those other than herself.
“I’m so grateful to have my wonderful, peaceful life w/ my daughter Katherine,” the actress wrote on a social media post. “How lucky am I to turn 40? I would love to express my gratitude by donating $1000 to 40 different charitable orgs that help others. Pls suggest some! I will kick it off by giving $1000 to @RAICESTEXAS!”
The generous offer yielded at least 4,500 suggestions on Twitter, with recommendations including New York charity Girls Inc, Thistle Farm which employees victims of sex-trafficking, a suicide prevention organisation for LGBT youth called The Trevor Project, a homeless charity in Los Angeles names Food on Foot, the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
What a wonderful way to share the birthday blessings!
