The iconic Sophia Loren is stepping in front of the camera for her first film in a decade.

The 84-year-old actress will star as the lead in The Life Ahead, a contemporary adaptation of Romain Gary’s novel The Life Before Us.

The global rights for the film were bought by Netflix, with the streamer planning to release the title later this year.

According to Netflix, Loren is set to play a Holocaust survivor with a daycare business, who takes in a 12-year-old street kid, a boy who recently robbed her. The two loners become each other’s protectors, anchoring an unconventional family.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to be working with Netflix on such a special film,” the actress said in a statement, “In my career, I’ve worked with the biggest studios, but I can safely say that none have had the breadth of reach and the cultural diversity of Netflix, and that’s what I love about them.”
