Netflix Shares the First Look at David Fincher’s “Mank”

One of David Fincher’s passion projects is coming to Netflix later this year, and we finally know what it will look like. The streaming giant shared the first look at Mank, the true story of behind-the-scenes drama that preceded the release of Citizen Kane.

David Fincher’s retelling of the turbulent production of this cinematic masterpiece centers on Herman J. Mankiewicz, as he struggles to get screenwriting credit for the script he co-wrote with Orson Welles.

Mank is one of the most personal projects of Fincher’s career since it’s based on a script by his late father, Howard Fincher. It was shot entirely in black and white, and it stars Gary Oldman, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Arliss Howard, Tom Burke, and Charles Dance.

Netflix is yet to confirm the official release date for this project, but it’s expected to come out this October and be eligible for the next year’s Academy Awards. Mank is Fincher’s first feature film since 2014 when he released the psychological thriller Gone Girl.
