No debut album in recent memory created a bigger splash than Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour, and she celebrated its second birthday in style! The Grammy-winning singer marked the occasion by announcing that her second studio album is “so close to being done.”
Rodrigo celebrated the anniversary of Sour with an emotional Instagram post on May 21. The young singer shared several photos and videos taken while she was recording her debut studio album and said she feels insanely grateful for every blessing it has brought into her life.
Rodrigo also revealed that “the new stuff is so so so so so close to being done”, referring to the release of her sophomore studio album. This isn’t the first time she teased new music – back in January, she shared a photo from the studio and said she’s “working on so many new songs.”
Rodrigo also dropped hints about the Sour follow-up in several interviews last year. She told Billboard that she already has a title in mind, in addition to dishing about the album’s sound and themes in an interview with Elle.
“I’m definitely not as sad as I was when I wrote Sour. I’m so excited to make my next record and explore more colors and textures and feelings and grow as a human being even more. I’m really stoked for that,” Rodrigo explained.
