Many beloved 2000s shows returned for another chapter in recent years, and One Tree Hill is the next one in line. Netflix ordered a sequel series based on the hit teen drama, and the original stars Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton agreed to reprise their roles.
Warner Bros. Television produced the original series for The WB/The CW, and they’re also in charge of the sequel. Jensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles are coming on board as executive producers through their Chaos Machine banner, alongside Becky Hartman Edwards, who’s serving as a writer.
Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton are returning as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, and they can’t wait to go back to One Three Hill over a decade later.
“What if you really can go back home? If there’s an opportunity to team with brilliant creatives and build a space where all our friends can show off their talents? Own our history? Reclaim our turf? Honor our fans? Sign us up. There’s only one Tree Hill, after all,” the duo wrote in a joint statement.
Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Bethany Joy Lenz, Paul Johansson, Jana Kramer, and Lee Norris were also a part of the One Tree Hill ensemble cast, but they’re yet to confirm their return.
