Africa is not for sissies.

When Pharrell ventured to South Africa to perform at the Global Citizens Festival, he discovered the sights — and sounds — of the wildlife in the country.

With December being summer in South Africa, residents are used to the sounds of Hadedas, an Ibis bird found in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The name comes from the sound of its call, which often occurs in the early morning and evening, when the birds return to their trees in some neighborhoods, particularly in Johannesburg.

During his visit to the city of gold, the “Happy” singer encountered these birds for the first time and recorded an Instagram story which he shared with his 11 million followers.

“What the f*** is that, bro?” the 45 year old asks exasperatedly.

Welcome to Africa!
